The game will start at 1st level. Aim for a PL6 tech level. Talk to me if you want nifty tech at the start or if you want to buy it later on. Depending on where you are and what you want, I may adjust the prices of things accordingly.
It will be a gestalt game, so you will choose two different classes and level up in each simultaneously for each character level you attain. Take the best of both worlds, like the individual saving throws, BAB, special abilities, and bonus feats. If one class gets some ability and the other class gets it later on, you do not get an improved version or the like. Also, you may only do one prestige class at a time. For all effects and purposes outside of this, treat each class tree as its own character, with a collective set of abilities, skills, etc. for determining prestige class requirements. If you want one tree to switch classes like a mofo, multiclassing rules apply.
When you start out, try to flesh your character out a bunch. I can roll a bunch of different people into a common scenario, so don't worry too much about that. I will likely make your very-recent history into whatever I think it should be in order to make this easier, but beyond maybe a year or a few months you can dream up whatever story you like.

Oh, I almost forgot!
When getting Equipment, Armour, Weapons, etc., PL 5 is acceptable and at a -2DC cost to purchase. Speak to me first if you want something above that for Weapons and Armour, since that's harder to get to, especially for 1st level players. Equipment at PL 6 all seems fine to purchase.
